Dear girls with scars and stretch marks,
We hear you.
We value your story.
We are here to document your victories and to release some of the grief of darker days.
Your body is uniquely beautiful. It has existed in so many different ways and has continued to carry you through life in many different roles and adventures. Your body is powerful, a beautiful representation of your story.
We know we're living in a time when we are constantly sold the lie that we need to look perfect...but what even is perfect? We are repeatedly told we are too much, not enough, too big, or too thin. Does hard work even pay off when we never truly get the validation we are promised from society?
A majority of us have stretch marks or scars, whether from trauma, childbearing, or simply the ebbs and flows of our changing bodies as we grow older. There is no shame in embracing the changes in our bodies. Read that again; it is never your responsibility to feel shame about your body. Skin imperfections aren't gross, and it's too heavy of a burden to constantly expect perfection from our bodies. Life is heavy enough without adding the expectation of perfection. It's time we learn to give ourselves the grace and self-acceptance we deserve.
Your stretch marks, scars, and beauty marks are all a part of you, and you are a total badass. Boudoir requires a level of trust that can only be found within yourself.
