How Creating a Mood Board Can Inspire Your Shoot
This is a tip for our visual girlies! Sometimes, it can be really intimidating to envision ourselves doing a boudoir shoot. In these cases, we encourage our clients to make a mood board to help inspire them in preparation for their shoot. You would be really surprised at how much more confident you will feel when you find images, ideas, and inspiration that help you picture yourself in the studio!
If you see a pose or outfit we’ve posted on social media, save it in an album on your phone to show us as we prepare for your session! Take time to browse Pinterest for some makeup looks that excite you so that our makeup artist has an idea of where to start on the day of your shoot! Don’t worry. It’s totally okay if we go in a direction different from what you initially thought you wanted. Regardless, it’s a good starting point for finding a direction together.
If you plan on incorporating fun props or anything extra, save some photos of some vibes. For example, look online for photos of the vibe that you want to achieve. Save photos of the types of flowers you see yourself using for a floral shoot or balloon and cake images that inspire you for a birthday shoot. Even if they aren’t boudoir photos, use them as an idea to make your own during your boudoir session. Of course, Emma Early Photography will use the photos as inspiration and create original art.
Creating a mood board is helpful for some clients because it allows them to use their imagination to connect better to themselves. It’s meant to be a time to be inspired by your own potential. It gives some people a safe place to dream about what they want to embody. It’s a really good exercise to include in your boudoir shoot prep because it requires self-reflection and intentional time spent on yourself. The mood board doesn’t need to be massive or time-consuming, but having a general idea of what speaks to you is helpful so our time in the studio can be a dream come true!
If a mood board doesn’t feel right for you, don’t worry; we have plenty of other tips and tools to ensure your studio time is bursting with creativity and fun! This idea is just for the women who feel like they need some help envisioning themselves. We want every woman to come into our studio excited and ready to celebrate their body and abilities. We don’t gatekeep at Emma Early Photography, so we want to make sure we share every tip we have to give everyone who walks into our studio excited about the endless possibilities of their shoot!
