How Did I Become A Boudoir Photographer?

I actually get asked this question A LOT.

Even before I graduated high school, I knew that I wanted to be a photographer. Initially I thought that I wanted to be a family photographer, after one busy fall season I quickly changed my mind. I then thought I wanted to be a couples/wedding photographer, which I still do enjoy and take on a limited number of weddings and couples sessions!

I never thought that I would be a boudoir photographer. One of my maternity clients asked me if I had ever done boudoir, and if I would be willing to give it a try for her. She wanted some photos done for her husband and for herself after having a baby. Since I'd already worked with her twice, I knew I'd be more comfortable with her and that if I messed up it wasn't a big deal, so I said “why not!"

Little did I know what it would lead to! I instantly fell in love with the idea of boudoir photography and empowering women. Living in a small country town, I wasn't sure if many of my previous clients would be supportive or interested in boudoir. Most of them were and several have came back to me for sessions! I found my niche and I never looked back since.

Although I still do some weddings and portraits, boudoir is definitely my number one and I wouldn't be surprised if in a year or two, it's all that I do. I always dreamed my photography career would work out, but never did I imagine it would be like this!

I am definitely a very lucky girl, and I am so grateful for every single one of you.
